Where to Stay in Venice?
Venice, the so called ‘sinking city’ is a tricky destination when it comes to budget accommodation. Prices are high particularly in the summer season when tourists flock to Venice to see the buildings submerged in water and float among the tangled web of canals.
Hostels are hard to come by in Venice but We_Crociferi is one of the few places that provides accommodation for students and staff of the local university and, during the summer also for travellers.
What makes We_Crociferi so unique is its location inside an ancient convent at Sestriere Cannaregio in Venice. The building has been recently renovated while still preserving its original architectural characteristics. Think industrial chic with exposed brick, high ceilings and wide arched windows letting sunlight shine through the never ending corridors. The old cells have been converted into housing units, and the cloisters have been reclaimed to be used by guests.
The hostel offers certain cultural events and entertainment for young people and the staff are extremely helpful with in depth knowledge of the area. The hostel is also a meeting point within the city not only for tourists but also for residents thanks to the popular on site bar Il Caffè ai Crociferi. See below for details.
Single beds in a shared room starting from 30 Euro
Twin rooms (with or without kitchenette)
Studio (with kitchen and living area) for two people.
Each unit features simplistic clean style with comfortable and functional spaces, modern designer furniture and an ensuite bathroom with shower.
Don’t forget to set the wake up alarm because breakfast is included!
Some extra features of the hostel to make your stay comfortable include:
Reception 24 hrs
Study and reading hall
Wi-Fi in communal areas
Structure accessible for disabled
Plates and kitchen utensil kit on request
Pets allowed on request
Credit cards accepted
but the best of all is the on site bar Il Caffè ai Crociferi which offers breakfast, lunch, aperitivi and a selection of wines and cocktails. All of the products sold here have been selected with a special attention to quality and local producers.
When you return to your room after a long day of getting lost in the city, it’s the perfect place to wind down with a drink, catch up with friends, maybe make some new ones and relax before dinner. The atmosphere is really unique and not your typical hostel bar. The setting is so nice that even locals come to enjoy it.
Every week Caffè ai Crociferi hosts live concerts, dj sets and more. To see the full program, visit the Facebook page.
Caffè ai Crociferi is open everyday from 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM
