London bus, Europe, Euro trip, travel europe

The Euro trip is a classic Gap Year choice. Popular for many reasons, there is so much to do and see. With countries only a stones throw apart you could be having tea with the queen of England by morning and champagne at the Eiffel Tower by night. What better way to shake off the post exam tension with a party in Ibiza or relaxing on the beach in Greece? Scroll down for European destinations.

Europe offers something for every type of traveller. Whether you’re into outdoor adventure, art and architecture or a crazy party scene The Gap Map’s got you covered to make sure that your Euro trip is everything you wanted and more.

The suggested route mapped out below is based on a 6 month trip and includes 22 countries! However, this can be tailored to your individual needs. You have the option to skip places or add in your own pit stops along the way. The route runs in a loop so you can start anywhere on the map and travel in either direction.

The ideal trip is designed to start in June during the European summer and begin in Turkey to visit the coastal areas while it’s hot. There’s nothing worse than walking around big cities for a full day of sightseeing with temperatures over 30 degrees C. It’s also a good idea to check which city offers the most affordable flight prices for your arrival dates.

Important: The blue line represents countries in the Schengen Zone and the purple line, Non-Schengen zone countries. Before travelling always do your research on visa requirements for each individual country. For most non EU citizens there is a limit of 90 days total to be spent over the whole Schengen Zone area. The Europe Gap Calender link below shows your itinerary day by day to help make sure you don’t over stay your time in the Schengen Zone while still having time to make it to the most popular events and festivals. Travellers of certain nationalities may have to adjust the route according to their visa requirements.
